Six Jamaicans in action in Rome
Kimberly Williams will be looking to continue her improvements this season when she competes as one of six Jamaicans down to compete at today's Diamond League meet in Rome, which takes place at the iconic Stadio Olimpico.
Williams improved her season's best to 14.35m at her last meet, which took place in Guadeloupe a month ago and will come up against a strong field in the triple jump with the likes of world leader Yulimar Rojas (14.96m), who is responsible for the top two marks so far this year, Caterine Ibarguen and Olga Rypakova providing the test.
Julian Forte ran his first sub-20 second clocking in his last half lap race, which came at the Brussels Diamond League last September. He will face Olympic medal winners Andre De Grasse and Christophe Lemaitre with Alonso Edwards also posing a threat in the event.
Novlene Williams-Mills and Stephenie-Ann McPherson will line up in the 400m, where they will meet American Natasha Hastings, while Christania Williams might fight things difficult in the 100m where Dafne Schippers - the only woman to run below 11 seconds in this field, Michell-Lee Ahye, Tianna Bartoletta, Marie - Josee Ta Lou are all listed to compete.
Janieve Russell, who won at this meet last year, will feature in the 400m hurdles where she will be looking to improve on her current season best of 55.41.
