Wilson eyes podium in Kenya

TYREKE Wilson is set to be Jamaica's first medallist on today's opening day of the IAAF Under-18 World Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

Wilson has the fastest time, a season-best 10.34, heading into the morning session heats. The semi-final and final is set for the evening session.

Also competing in the morning session are Kimone Reid in discus qualifying; Anthony Cox and Antonio Wilson, heats 1 and 4 of the boys' 400m; Shequena Foote is in heat 3 of the girls' race.

In the afternoon session, Kevona Davis will line-up in heat 4 of the girls' 100m with the best time of 11.24, just ahead of the boys' 100m final.

Other Jamaicans competing in the afternoon session are Safin Wills and Owayne Owens in triple jump qualying as well as Tyrese Reid and Kimar Farquharson in heats 1 and 2 of boys' 800 metres.
