Roads in Ruin: Rough ride on Healthshire Avenue

LOCATION: Healthshire Avenue, Kingston 10

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?: Dr Peter Phillips has been the Member of Parliament for East Central St Andrew in which Healtshire Avenue falls since 1994.

WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE?

Samantha Willis: "This is one of the worst roads in the area. The taxis don't drive on the road anymore. They leave us at the entrance. You have to walk whenever you go anywhere. It has been this way for over 15 years. From I was in primary school it has been this way."

Hugh Robinson: "My neighbour he used to patch one and two places but the authorities haven't done anything so it's just members of the community that come together and do something."

DID YOU KNOW: More than $13 billion has been spent on the Major Infrastructure Development Programme, which is aimed at, among other things, fixing some 430kilometres of roads which are deemed to be in need of urgent attention. Roads like Healthshire Avenue have not been included under the programme.
