Ziggy Marley wants organic cannabis

Ziggy Marley is urging marijuana users to "grow your own", as part of campaign to rid pot of pesticides.

The 49-year-old musician son of the late reggae star Bob Marley, who smokes cannabis as part of his Rastafari religious beliefs is campaigning for regulation of the cannabis farming industry to ensure the weed he inhales is organic.

Ziggy wrote in Rolling Stone magazine: "It is up to us, the people, to make sure the people's plant doesn't actually cause people pain. Ask questions and demand answers, and let those in the industry know that you will not accept anything that includes pesticides. And if all else fails, grow your own."

He added: "The most effective way to avoid potentially poisoning yourself with pesticides is to grow and use your own."

The singer expresses his fears that the widening legalisation of cannabis is causing production of the drug to become industrialised for financial gain.

Ziggy is calling for a ban on pesticides in marijuana production, and urging other users to become vigilant about the quality of the pot products they consume.

Pamela Anderson's mom encouraged her to do Playboy

Pamela Anderson's mother convinced her to appear in Playboy magazine.

The 50-year-old actress shot to fame when she appeared on the publication's cover in the October 1989 issue and moved to Los Angeles to further her modelling career. And while she initially had reservations about doing scantily-clad photoshoots for the magazine, her mum Carol encouraged her.

Pamela who was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia said: "It was the woman's choice to be in the magazine. It was my choice to be in the magazine, I wasn't made to do anything I was uncomfortable with.

"My first reaction was no and I talked to mother and she said, 'Why not? Get out of this small town, go to Los Angeles. How exciting.'

"I'd never been on a plane before. I'd never gotten out of my little town and I was scared to death by it.

"I overcame a lot of my painful shyness. That's for sure."

While Pamela didn't go to university, she learnt a lot in Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion, and she credits the late businessman, who died last year, with giving her a post-school education.

She said: "Playboy was my university, I always say. I learned a lot."
