Vin Diesel has graduated with a PhD, 30 years after dropping out of university.

The 50-year-old actor who is best known for the Fast & Furious franchise was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in English degree from the same institution, Hunter College, he quit three decades ago, at a graduation ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York last Wednesday.

During his speech, he said: "While I was in Hollywood, I always had this pride of Hunter College.

"I would tell everybody that I learned and took so much away from my experience at Hunter College.

"I was young, I was a bouncer, when I wasn't bouncing I was in these classrooms with the most diverse student body on the planet."

Vin, who was sporting the college's purple graduation gown, told the crowd of around 1,800 students that it was that "pride" that kept him going when he was turned down for parts because he's biracial.

Jesse Williams is reportedly dating broadcaster Taylor Rooks. The 36-year-old actor split from Minka Kelly earlier this year, and he's now apparently dating the American journalist, after the duo were recently spotted attending a Kevin Hart comedy show together at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

An eyewitness told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "They are eager to keep their romance under wraps.

"He's been going through a difficult divorce [from Aryn Drake-Lee], but he's found solace with Taylor."

The rumoured new couple made a concerted effort to keep a low profile during their quick trip to Atlantic City.

The insider added: "The two slipped into Atlantic City for 24 hours."

Jesse is best known for his role as Dr Jackson Avery on the ABC TV series 'Grey's Anatomy', while Taylor is considered to be one of the rising stars of the broadcasting industry, with her TimeOut With Taylor Rooks YouTube show and podcast becoming notable successes.
