Selena Gomez has returned to her acting roots for a short horror film for Instagram.

The 25-year-old former Disney Channel star teamed up with Canadian artist Petra Collins for the creepy flick titled, 'A Love Story' which has been created for Instagram's newly launched long-form video platform IGTV - which allows users to post videos up to an hour in length.

The director - who is good friends with Selena having collaborated on her music videos for Bad Liar and Fetish - took to her own Instagram account to reveal a series of behind-the-scenes shots and clips from her new American Horror Story-esque project.

In one clip from the film, Selena can be seen playing with a mutilated face whilst lying naked in a bath.

The disturbing imagery continues with the pop singer sucking on an eyeball, shaving icing off her leg with a knife and casually lying by the legs of a woman whose face is made out of a dismembered fingers.

Selena has long been trying to break away from her clean-cut Disney image and this gory project follows on from her starring role in 2012 crime drama Spring Breakers.

Janet Jackson has opened up about her "intense" battle with depression.

The 52-year-old singer believes her problems are partly due to feeling "inferior" as a child, while also coming up against racism and sexism, but she's grateful she fought her way back from the mood disorder.

She wrote in the new issue of Essence magazine: "I struggled with depression. The struggle was intense.

"Low self-esteem might be rooted in childhood feelings of inferiority. It could relate to failing to meet impossibly high standards. And of course there are always the societal issues of racism and sexism. Put it all together and depression is a tenacious and scary condition. Thankfully, I found my way through it."

Even in her forties, Janet struggled to stop herself from falling into despair.

She wrote: "In my forties: Like millions of women in the world, I still heard voices inside my head berating me, voices questioning my value.

"Happiness was elusive. A reunion with old friends might make me happy. A call from a colleague might make me happy. But because sometimes I saw my failed relationships as my fault, I easily fell into despair."

But the Together Again singer also spoke touchingly of finding happiness thanks to her son Eissa, 16 months, who she has with estranged husband Wissam Al Mana.

Cardi B was warned having a baby could "f**k up" her career.

The Bodak Yellow hitmaker is currently expecting her first child with her fiance, Offset, and she admitted that she was worried when she found out she was expecting because of her chart success, especially after she was advised by friends and her team that it wouldn't be a good idea.

She admitted: "A lot of successful women have kids, and a lot of successful artistes have kids, but not at the peak of their career.

"[When I told people]. It was like, 'You can't do this. This might f**k up your career.' "

After news of her pregnancy leaked out, Atlantic Records recommended Cardi worked on her new album away from New York to avoid distractions, but she was too tired to concentrate when she got into a Los Angeles recording studio.

She said: "We were making green juice and coffee. I used to tell God, 'Please don't make me sleepy.' "

She eventually confessed her pregnancy to the sound engineer and asked him and the recording team just to follow her where she had appearances and when they were able to, and she impressed label bosses with her stamina.

Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman said: "All of the creative team kind of followed her around the country, from L.A. to Miami to Atlanta to New York, back to Atlanta.

"I was blown away by her stamina, plus her inner strength and her creative instincts."
