Man enters house and chops-up occupant

A man who entered the house of another man and chopped him repeatedly on his head has been sent to prison for 18 months.

"Your Honour, I was on my way to work and I see him on my veranda. I tell him to leave because him always break mi house and tek out mi food. So is suh I say and him start stone me. Me run in my house and him come inside my house and chop me up," the complainant said.

Parish Judge Vaughn Smith handed down the sentence to the offender, Dennis Brown, in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday.

Police charged Brown with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm after he used a machete to chop a man on his head and hand. The complainant spent four days in hospital and received 17 stitches to his head.
