Beenie previews album with 'Yardie'
Beenie Man has the record as the dancehall artiste with the most number ones on the Billboard Reggae album chart. The dancehall superstar is set to score another chart topper with the release of his upcoming album, 'Unstoppable'.
The 21-track arrangement is due for release on August 26 and is led by the first official single, Yardie.
"The recent surge of interest in dancehall music by some of the top artistes around the world has the entire island feeling proud. Dancehall a run the world right now. I'm happy to be a member of the dancehall fraternity, and this song is more like a tribute to the artistes, musicians, and producers who contribute to the music," Beenie Man said.
Unstoppable features production work from a variety of producers, including Major Lazer, Tony Kelly, Mario C, Jordan McClure, Seanizzle, Jeremy Harding, and Don Corleone, to name a few.
"We chose 21 songs because we had a lot to say. I haven't done an album in over seven years and seems like the industry is moving in that direction as well. You are getting more tracks for less money, and it makes sense as it discourages the fans from illegally downloading your music. Everyone likes a bargain. In this case, it's a real steal - more than a deal - as the album is solid," Beenie Man said.
Beenie Man's previous number-one albums on Billboard were 2006's Undisputed; 2004's Back to Basics; 2002's Tropical Storm; 2000's Art & Life (which won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album); 1999's The Doctor; and 1998's The Many Moods of Moses.
Unstoppable is being released by New York-based VP Records distribution arm VPAL.
