Dancehall titans power new project
With contributions from some of dancehall’s most recognisable names, including Sizzla, Chronic Law, Shawn Storm and Silk Boss, Smooth Thoughts Riddim is being positioned as one of Eastern Entertainment Promotions’ most ambitious projects to date.
According to Judah Nugent of Eastern Entertainment Promotions, bringing the project to completion required patience and persistence.
“It took us approximately two years to complete the project. One of the main factors was the availability of some of the artistes, as everyone has their own schedule and professional commitment,” Nugent explained.
“Coordinating the different artistes and ensuring that everything came together took time, but we remained committed to seeing the project through. We believe good things take time, and we are excited to finally share Smooth Thoughts Riddim with the world.”
Nugent said the line-up was intentionally assembled to showcase a range of styles and perspectives.
“We wanted to bring together a diverse group of artistes, each with their own style, personality and musical identity. Every artiste brings something different to the rhythm, and that variety allows listeners to experience different perspectives and expressions within one cohesive project,” he said.
Unlike many dancehall projects geared primarily towards parties and high-energy entertainment, Smooth Thoughts Riddim aims to deliver a more introspective experience.
“The name Smooth Thoughts really speaks for itself. This is the type of project you can sit back with, relax, spend time with your thoughts and genuinely resonate with each track,” Nugent said.
“Music is not always just about dancing and having a good time; it can also be about personal experiences, reflection and connecting with something that speaks to you.”
Adding to the buzz surrounding the release will be the premiere of Chronic Law’s official music video for Streets, which is set to debut the same day.
“Chronic Law has a strong connection with dancehall audiences, and we believe the video premiere will generate excitement and help draw attention to the wider rhythm project,” Nugent said.
“Pairing the two releases gives fans more than one reason to engage with the music on the day. Our intention is to create a coordinated release moment that encourages people to watch the video, discover the rhythm, explore the other tracks, and support all the artistes involved.”
