Real Talk: Razor B delves into fatherhood and romance

Renee Deleon

STAR Writer

Hi my Real Talk family. This week, my guest is the STAR of the Month, the Hot Up artiste, Razor B. We spoke with him at length about life and fatherhood, and he definitely kept it real.

Renee: What kind of father are you?

Razor B: I am a very strict father. I grew up strict. My mother was very strict. I didn't grow up with a father, so I'm strict in over protective strict. They are all girls. Education to me is very important, so I try to make sure that they go to good schools. I tell them about boys and the tricks they come with. So far they are doing very well. I'm a proud dad. Their mother is doing a good job. When they make mistakes, I talk to them from the heart and from a place of love.

Renee: What is your most memorable daddy moment to date?

Razor B: There are so many. When they were younger I brought them to the zoo and that has stuck in my head. I saw the joy on their faces. I've done countless things with my children. Mi dress them like how me dress. If me a wear a track suit, me mek dem match me. But that zoo moment, they had fun. Up to this day them talk about it and me talk about it too.

Renee: What was your life like growing up?

Razor B: It was six of us, no dad. My mom had to be working three different jobs. I became very responsible early. When my sisters left for Canada, I had to take up the slot because my mom had to work. I had to cook, get my brothers ready for school, go to school at St Jago, pick them up back and bring my mother's dinner to her work. But my mother worked countless hours and saved her money to make us have a better life. I'm very appreciative. I will do anything and everything for my mother. I tell her all the time that I love her. Bwoy, me a tell you, me rate her. She's my mom and dad. Not having a dad makes me a better dad.

Renee: You sing hardcore songs, but are you a romantic person at heart?

Razor B: I'm very romantic. I'm Mr Chocolate. I'm Mr Roses. I'm Mr fill up the bath and put rose petals inna it. I'm Mr Cook and when you come through the door, the lingerie is ready. Me no ramp. I just like to see a woman smile. Women should be pampered.

Renee: You are a chef; would you date a woman who knows nothing about cooking?

Razor B: (Laughs) Absolutely. I cook so much, she will learn from me. I love to cook, so I'll cook, breakfast lunch and dinner. Me can bake. I love it all. But a woman should know how to cook.

This is where I say peace out for this week. Next week I'll wrap up this interview with Razor B. Until then, keep it real.
