Chef Brisco has given supporters a glimpse into the terrifying moments that left him seriously injured during his birthday trip to Jamaica, claiming that a truck driver allegedly used the soft shoulder to bypass traffic before hitting him.

The popular chef, who has been recovering from injuries sustained in the crash, recounted the ordeal during a recent social media live, saying he was riding in the Priory area of St Ann when the incident occurred.

Brisco said traffic had built up near a man selling pudding and he decided to ride along the left side of the road.

But according to Brisco, a truck driver allegedly attempted to get around the traffic by using the soft shoulder.

“I was riding in St. Anne's by um Pirie, who know Pirie and when the lights stop there's a traffic,” Brisco said.

He continued: “I ride to the left when I was on the left um a truck man he don't go around the traffic and come around on the soft shoulder undertake and take me out.”

Brisco said he was subsequently taken to hospital in Jamaica, where he remained from Thursday until Sunday.

However, he claimed that he did not receive the treatment he needed.

“And I go to the hospital in Jamaica from Thursday to Sunday and they couldn't help me,” he said.

The account comes as Brisco continues his recovery following the crash, which has prompted an outpouring of support from family, friends and followers.

A GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with his medical expenses had previously raised more than US$65,000 towards a US$100,000 target, as supporters rallied around the chef following the incident.

Photos shared on Brisco’s TikTok account, @briscoeskitchenandspice, showed him receiving medical treatment, including one image in which he was lying on a stretcher with his head and face heavily bandaged. Another showed him in a hospital bed wearing a neck brace.

The circumstances surrounding the crash have not been independently established, and Brisco's account represents his version of what happened.

For now, the chef remains focused on his recovery, while supporters continue to rally behind him during what was supposed to be a special birthday trip with his family.
