Attempted murder at Hope Gardens
A man was further remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today when he appeared to answer to an attempted murder charge following an incident at Hope Gardens.
Charged with the offence of attempted murder is Enus Smith.
He did not enter a plea when the matter was called up this morning.
The court heard that sometime in September Smith called his girlfriend (the complainant) and told her he had some money for her.
The court was told that they made arrangements to meet at Hope Gardens where Smith allegedly used a wire and place it around the complainant’s neck, strangling her.
Reports are that he pulled her body to nearby bushes where he left her for dead.
The complainant somehow made her way to the police and a report was made.
Allegations are that the two had a dispute over a child.
Smith is to return to court on December 17.
