Man held with ganja in igloo remanded in custody
A man who was unable to explain how he came to be in possession of almost 10 pounds of marijuana will be spending his Christmas holiday in lock-up.
Gregory Barrette pleaded not guilty to the charges of illegal possession of marijuana and dealing in marijuana when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Allegations are that Barrette was found carrying an igloo in which there was a false compartment containing 9.5 pounds of marijuana.
In court Barrette vehemently denied having knowledge that the illicit drugs was in the igloo.
He was remanded and is to reappear in court on January 7. The forensic report is still outstanding. The court was told that it should be ready in two weeks.
