Two men convicted for lottery scamming

The St Elizabeth Proactive Investigations Unit recorded another lottery scam conviction in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Convicted are 21-one-year-old Alshane Wilson, a farmer of Black River, St Elizabeth; and 18-year-old Ishmael Robinson, otherwise called 'Big Wayne' of Longwood in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.

Both pleaded guilty to knowingly possessing identity information.

Wilson was arrested on February 5, 2015 after cellular phones that were taken from him were found to contain identity information of persons living in the United States of America. Following investigations, he was charged on February 9, 2015 and made his first appearance in the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court on February 11, 2015.

Robinson was held during a special operation at North Hampton district, Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth. Two cellular phones seized during the operation were found to contain identity information of persons living in the United States of America and other information related to lottery scamming. Robinson was charged on Wednesday, March 9, 2015.

Both men will be sentenced on March 7, 2016.
