Off-duty cop flees after man allegedly charges at him with gun
An off-duty police officer reportedly had to make a hasty escape from Denham Town after a man allegedly ran towards him with a firearm while he was sitting in his vehicle.
Charged in connection with the incident is 35-year-old Horatio Livine, a higgler of Bread Lane, Denham Town, Kingston 14.
Livine has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon and assault at common law.
According to the police, the incident happened about 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, after the off-duty officer went into the community to visit relatives.
After parking his vehicle, the officer reportedly checked his rear-view mirror and saw Livine allegedly running towards him with a firearm in his hand.
Fearing for his safety, the officer reportedly wasted little time and hurriedly drove away from the area.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police, triggering an investigation.
Livine later turned himself in to the police.
He was interviewed by investigators and subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
