A man and a woman, suspected to be serial thieves, were detained by the police after several items believed to be stolen were found at a house they occupied.

The two were held following an operation in Willowdene, St Catherine, on Saturday. An illegal firearm was also seized during the operation, police said.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., members of the Spanish Town CIB went to Willowdene, and during a search of a premises, one .38 revolver with live rounds was seized.

A further search resulted in the seizure of a 52-inch television, cellular phones, a wrench, locks, colognes, and other items valued at more than $300,000.

The man and the woman were arrested on the suspicion of breaches of the Firearms and Larceny acts.

Their names are being withheld pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, investigators are asking victims of robberies and theft to call the Spanish Town police.

Police believe the duo in custody can assist in a series of theft throughout the parish.
