30 detained in Central Village curfew

The St Catherine South police took a number of persons in custody during a curfew in Central Village this morning.

Police and military personnel swooped down on West Avenue, popularly called Little Lane, and during the operation more than 30 persons were picked up by the authorities.
Up to a short while ago, those held were still being process by detectives.

The police confirmed that the operation started about 4:30 a.m. with more than 50 personnel. It was revealed that the police were searching for criminals who were involved in murders and shootings.

The Little Lane community has been the scene of two recent murders.

Meanwhile, councillor for the area, Donovan Guy, said the area is returning to a peaceful state. He said it is hoped that the police operation will help in the process.
