As of yesterday, the murder count in St James stood at 199, and residents across the parish are not expecting a halt to the deadly rage anytime soon.

Last week was one of the bloodiest in recent memory as 15 lives were snuffed out across the western parish.

Several residents are of the view that the worst is yet to come and that things will get worse before it gets better.

"Dem affi go weed out the scammer dem, or it ago get worse," an Anchovy resident said.

A resident of Glendevon told THE STAR that "the scammers dem too powerful."

"They are heavily armed and they feel they are untouchable. It scares me," the resident said.

A female resident, who resides in Anchovy, said she wants back a peaceful community.

"Mi can't tek the gun business. We need back the peaceful community weh we did have. Give them jobs so that dem too busy with work and won't have time to kill," she told THE STAR.
