Elderly man found hanging from tree
The St James police have launched a probe into the death of an elderly man who was found hanging from a breadfruit tree on Tuesday with what appears to be chop wounds.
THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the deceased is 70-year-old Everton Hinds, a gas salesman of a Spring Mount address.
He was found hanging with a rope around his neck in the community.
Reports are that someone stumbled upon his body around 5 a.m. Tuesday and summoned the police.
Hinds was pronounced dead at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
A senior policeman told THE WEEKEND STAR that there may have been foul play.
"The matter is still under investigation. It can be treated as a murder investigation because the chop wounds were visible," the cop told our news team.
The police are also asking anyone with information that can assist the investigation to come forward.
