The St Ann Criminal Investigation branch (CIB) is investigating the death of a carpenter who was shot and killed on his birthday, while out celebrating at a nightclub with friends a Tuesday night.

Preliminary investigations have pointed to robbery as the primary motive.

THE STAR understands that 27-year-old Christopher Henry of a Salem, Runaway Bay, address died from a bullet to the head.

Reports are that about 9:30 p.m. Henry and friends were at the Shelter Rock Nightclub celebrating his birthday when an armed man entered and began to rob patrons.

THE STAR gathered that patrons were then relieved of cash and cell phones.

Our news team understands that while making an exit, the gunman fired two shots, one of which struck Henry in his head.

He subsequently died on the spot. THE STAR was told that the gunman then made his escape in a waiting motor car.

Henry's murder brings to 56, the number of people killed in the parish since the start of the year.
