Man set ablaze in his house

A St Mary man was chopped and set ablaze at his home on Rectory Street in the parish yesterday morning.

The dead man has since been identified as Neville 'Syrup' Tucker.

Reports are that residents heard Tucker in distress, crying out for help at about 2 a.m., and went to render assistance.

Upon reaching his home, the dwelling was reportedly engulfed in flames.

THE STAR gathered that the Port Maria Fire Department was summoned to put out the blaze.

Upon conducting cooling-down operation, Tucker's charred remains were spotted among the rubble.

Our news team understands that chop wounds were visible on his body.

The Port Maria police are investigating.
