Hunts Bay cops get improved barracks

Police officers at the Hunts Bay Police Station in Kingston now have a much more comfortable space in which to rest and refresh themselves after having their facilities refurbrished yesterday.

The project, undertaken by ARC Manufacturing Ltd, saw the barracks and bathrooms at the station getting a much-needed facelift. The works included the tiling of the bathrooms and the repainting of the 22 barracks rooms at the facility.

"This is just our way of saying thanks and giving back to the Hunts Bay Police Station," Norman Horne, executive chairman at ARC, said.

The Hunts Bay Police Station is headquarters to the St Andrew South Police Division. ARC is located at Bell Road in the police district.

"They have done so much for the community, and their presence is very reassuring for everyone who traverses Spanish Town Road and its environs, especially our customers and employees. They are always so responsive and willing to help, so we are really very happy that we are able to do something for them, in return," Horne said.

Superintendent Gary Francis, commanding officer for the St Andrew South Division, welcomed the facelift.

"We greatly appreciate the corporate social responsibility executed by ARC Manufacturing to improve the barracks at Hunts Bay Police Station. This is quite significant for us as not only does it help to create a better environment for our members, but it goes a long way in boosting our morale and motivating us to take on the challenges of crime management," he said.
