Birthday King a fitting Reggae 6 present

BETTORS obviously heeded last week’s warning to ‘take a sceptical approach to all but two races on Saturday’s Reggae 6’, explaining a modest $26,005 payout despite THE GIFTED ONE shocking rivals in the fifth race at odds of 22-1. 
KP CHOICE, declared ‘a free banker’ to open the Reggae 6, was one of four winning favourites ‘drawn widest on the faster stands’ side with natural speed and the track bias in his favour’. 
However, THE GIFTED ONE blew away the day’s other proposed banker, Jason DaCosta’s down-in-class GLOBAL PURSUIT, who was among the leaders cut down by the rank outsider close home. 
Consider DaCosta’s United States-bred debutant, BIRTHDAY KING, a banker in the second at three furlongs straight, having proven speedier than his five stablemates at exercise. 
Likewise, nine-year-old LABAN gets the nod at five furlongs straight on a $700,000 claim tag, the lowest level the former overnight-allowance campaigner has ever been nominated to race.
