Block maker arrested for ice pick attack

Thirty-three-year-old Roger Bogle, otherwise called 'Bro God', a block maker of Spring Piece, Pimento Walk in St Ann, has been charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon, assault at common law with the use of a prohibited weapon following an incident in Pimento Walk, Ocho Rios in St Ann last Friday.

Reports are that at about 7:30 p.m., Bogle and a man had a dispute in the area. It is alleged that Bogle used an ice pick to inflict wounds on the man and later left. He reportedly returned with a firearm and pointed it at another man. The police were summoned to the area and on arrival, Bogle was arrested, taken into custody, and charged in his attorney's presence.

His court date is being finalised.

Woman charged with mother's murder

Twenty-five-year-old Danika Davis, otherwise called 'Kim', of Bryan's Piece, Clarendon, was charged with murder following the stabbing death of her mother at their home on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Mertella Abbott-Sappleton, 60, otherwise called 'Merty'. Reports from the Frankfield police are that an argument developed between the women, during which it is alleged that Davis attempted to strangle her mother with a piece of electrical wire. Abbott-Sappleton tried to free herself and a knife was brought into play and used to inflict stab wounds to her upper body. Davis then visited the police station, where she reported her actions and was arrested.

On their arrival at the scene, Abbott-Sappleton was transported to hospital where death was confirmed. Davis was charged on Tuesday after she confessed to the allegations during an interview. Her court date is being finalised.

Clarendon man held with illegal ammunition

A Clarendon man is to appear in the May Pen Parish Court today to answer to various offences, including ammunition charges.

Darrell Watson, 25, otherwise called 'Stinger'of Hamilton Street, Western Park, was charged with two counts of possession of prohibited weapon, possession of prohibited weapon with intent to traffic (ammunition), trafficking prohibited weapon, dealing in prohibited weapon and two counts of fraudulent use of licence plate following an operation along the Four Paths main road in the parish on August 26.

Reports from the May Pen police are that about 1:30 p.m., a black Toyota Wish motor car bearing two different licence plates was intercepted along the Four Paths main road. This vehicle is believed to had been involved in a bank robbery that occurred in Mandeville. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a magazine containing 25 9mm rounds, two 7.62 rounds ,one 5.56 M16 spent casing and one 9mm magazine were seized.

Watson was arrested and taken into custody where he gave a caution statement accounting for his actions. He was subsequently charged on Monday.

ITA examination depots to close

Some Island Traffic Authority (ITA) examination depots will be closed today and tomorrow to facilitate a series of staff engagement sessions.

The Falmouth, Montego Bay, Lucea and Savanna-la-Mar depots will be closed today while the Port Antonio, Port Maria and St Ann's Bay depots will be closed on Friday. All closures will take effect at noon and will resume normal operations at 8:30 a.m. the next business day.

The ITA is therefore asking for the public's understanding, as these sessions are facilitated, with a view to improving services islandwide.
