St James murder accused to be sentenced in November

October 12, 2023

Rushawn Bulgin, the man who pleaded guilty to the killing of a homeless man in St James had his sentencing delayed when he appeared in court on Thursday.

The defendant pleaded guilty on Wednesday during his previous court appearance and was expected to be sentenced today, however his lawyer, Albert Morgan, has been absent due to illness.

Bulgin is on trial for the March 2023 murder of Matthew Lettman, whose body was found along  Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay.

The police reported that his body had severe injuries consistent with a brutal attack.

A post mortem conducted on April 6 confirmed that Lettman's skull had been crushed, likely by a heavy stone, which led to his death.

A search culminated in Bulgin's capture two days after the crime.
