Alleged bomb threat prankster gets bail

Michael Glenford, the alleged mastermind behind the bomb threats recorded at the St Catherine Parish Court and the Spanish Town Hospital was offered bail on Monday.

Glenford was offered $450,000 bail with two sureties. He must also report to the police three times weekly. The bail application was heard by Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque, despite the absence of a preliminary report which was previously requested from the police's Communication Forensic and Cybercrime Division.

"I know that they can't produce the full report within short order but even a prelim report, that is what would help the court," the senior jurist said on the last court date.

Her comments came after the lead investigator informed the court that a report from the cybercrime experts would take at least two months and there was concern raised by the prosecutor regarding the section of the Cybercrimes Act under which Glenford was charged.

However, successful submissions by attorney-at-law Davion Vassell noted that the offence for which Glenford is charged is not a serious one and he is a proper candidate for bail as he has a fixed address. Vassell, who was recently retained by Glenford, also maintained his client's innocence.

As a condition of his bail, Glenford is to surrender his travel documents and a stop order was imposed. The matter was adjourned until March 8, 2024 for file completion.
