Sisters implicated in alleged credit card scam

Investigators are trying to apprehend the sibling of a woman who is before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, whom they believe conspired to steal almost $500,000 from a man's credit card.

The revelation was shared on Monday when the accused, Aisha Wright, appeared before Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell. It is alleged that the complainant's credit card was stolen and $450,000 was transferred to Wright's Cashapp account.

When cautioned, Wright allegedly told investigators that it was her sister who took the credit card and sent the money to her account. Once the monies were in her account, they shared it. Wright was subsequently charged with conspiracy to defraud, receiving stolen property and unlawfully making device or data available for the commission of an offence.

However, prosecutors informed the senior jurist that the police have not been able to apprehend Wright's sister.

"We have been to the address noted on the file and she is not there. We can't find her," the prosecutor said.

The matter was adjourned until May 1, for mention and file completion. Wright was made the subject of a fingerprint order.
