Home invasion turns ugly as two men allegedly attack woman

A quiet night at a St Catherine home reportedly turned into a terrifying ordeal when two men allegedly broke in, attacked a woman and demanded money before residents later captured them.

Charged with burglary are 34-year-old David Baker, a technician of Bay Bottom, Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine, and 35-year-old Nicklous Walters, otherwise called ‘Titty Man’, a labourer of Budhoo district, Old Harbour Bay.

According to police, the incident happened at a residence in Bay Bottom on Friday, September 11, shortly after the woman had gone to bed.

Reports from the Old Harbour police are that about 2 a.m., the woman, who had securely locked her home, was awakened by the accused men.

One of the men allegedly struck her with an object, while the other reportedly armed himself with a machete and demanded money.

But when their demands were not met, police said the men allegedly ransacked the house and stole several items valued at approximately $9,500.

During the ordeal, the woman reportedly noticed that her front door had been forced open.

She managed to use the doorway to escape and raise an alarm with residents in the area.

The alarm reportedly brought residents running, and the two men were later captured and handed over to the police.

The woman subsequently identified items allegedly stolen from her home among the property found in the men's possession.

Baker and Walters were later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of their attorney.

Investigators are now preparing a court date for the two accused men.
