Balcombe Drive was the scene of a double murder on Sunday.

A man who the St Andrew South police say was a major criminal actor in Wailers, Waterhouse, and the wider Olympic Gardens areas of St Andrew, was killed in a reported confrontation with lawmen on Tuesday.

He has been identified as 31-year-old Shaquille Pellington, otherwise called ‘Biggs’, of Penwood Lane, Kingston 11. Reports from the Olympic Gardens police are that at 6:05 p.m., a police team conducting operational duties in the area received information about armed men in the vicinity of Penwood Lane. The team responded and, while conducting checks at a premises in the community, encountered a man who pointed a firearm in their direction. One police officer discharged his weapon, hitting the man. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Pellington. A Taurus G3 semi-automatic pistol containing four rounds of ammunition was recovered from Pellington at the scene.

Intelligence reports indicate that Pellington was a prominent member of the Wailers Gang and had strong associations with criminal networks locally and overseas. Pellington was linked to several murders and shootings across the St Andrew South Division, including the double murder of Kirk Jenkins and Andrew Berry, and the injuring of a female on Balcombe Drive, Kingston 11, on Sunday.

Further checks revealed that Pellington had most recently been charged in connection with the murder of Sequan Grant, otherwise called ‘Kushie’, which occurred along Bishop Avenue, Kingston 11, on November 15, 2025. He was subsequently granted bail by the court. Pellington also had a lengthy criminal history, having previously been charged with offences including murder, shooting and sexual offences. The matter has been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations.
