Milex Eagles, Utech Knights To Face Off In KPMG Squash semis

An epic clash is anticipated when the defending champions, the Milex Eagles, go head to head with the 2014 champions, the UTech Knights in the semi-finals of the 2016 KPMG Squash League, which is set for Tuesday, April 5, at the Liguanea Club in Kingston.

The Eagles booked their semi-final slot when they disposed of the JDF 3-0 in the quarter-final round of the tournament, which was played on Tuesday night. Team captain Tahjia Lumley set the pace when he beat Darrian Barrant in four sets.

Alex Jordan followed on but had to work hard to defeat Champlini Henry in five. Then Shane Slater took down Demar Pinnock to ensure that the Eagles remained undefeated in the tournament.

Things didn't go as smoothly for the Knights, but they managed to take down the Dream Team 2-1 to take a slot in the semi-finals and continue their quest to retake the title.

The Knights started on the right note when Alwyn Lynch defeated Nicholas Benjamin 21-15, 17-21, 21-18, 21-19. However, Ricardo Ardito then beat Otarto Carroll to even up the score. The Knights then put up experienced campaigner Yasser Wright for the tie-breaking match and he dismissed Charles Chambers.

In other quarter-final action, Levy Tax prevailed 2-1 over Three +1.

Levy Tax will face Black & Tan in the semi-finals after the latter stopped the Flossers 2-1. Paul Munroe defeated Dave Morrison and then Anthony Ayoub beat Peter Glaze to lock up the victory. Damion Chin saved face for the Flossers when he beat Robert Vaughn but Black & Tan were already safely into the semi finals.
