LONDON (AP):

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been given a further one-game ban for his behaviour that followed his sending-off in an FA Cup quarter-final match against Everton last month.

The English Football Association announced the suspension yesterday, saying the Spain international player has also been fined US$28,500 and warned about his future conduct. Costa admitted to a charge of improper conduct at a disciplinary hearing.

Costa was suspended for two matches after receiving a red card for the first time in his Chelsea career against Everton. He picked up a second booking after thrusting his head at Gareth Barry before making a biting motion towards the midfielder's neck. Both players said there was no bite.

Costa confronted the referee before leaving the field.
