Pool players seek sponsors for international event

Many-time national pool champion Sunil 'Termite' Kissindal is inviting competitive players and pool lovers to an exciting two-day pool tournament and fundraiser, dubbed 'Road to BCAPL National Championships 2016.'

The tournament is slated for Montego Bay and will be a double-elimination, eight-ball pool tournament on May 28 and 29.

In 2014, Kissindal was invited to the 38th Billiard Congress of America National Championships in the United States.

He placed seventh of 108 entrants in the eight-ball advanced game and 65th of 300 in the nine-ball challenge.

This year, due to financial challenges and a lack of sponsorship, team captain Kissindal and vice-captain Cassius Cassie are seeking to raise funds for the trip and a shot at representing Jamaica in the tournament.

"The money we raise is going to be spent on the pool team for accommodation and entrance fees. We are really asking corporate Jamaica to come out and give us a help on this," he told STAR SPORTS.

Kissindal believes there are more than 400 dedicated pool players in Jamaica.

"This fundraiser is targeting those who can play, those who can't play and those who want to donate to a worthy cause," he said, adding that he can be contacted at 295-3519 for account payment information.
