'Messi' Marsh off to Finland for trial

May 24, 2016

Chevonne 'Messi' Marsh, one of the six local-based players selected in a Reggae Boyz 23-man squad for Friday's friendly against Chile in Santiago and next month's Copa Centenario in the United States, is set to miss both trips.

Marsh has been summoned by Finland club Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) for a trial and he left for Europe yesterday.

The player was scheduled to begin his trial stint at the end of April to June 2 but there was a delay in the arrangements. A Cavalier official revealed yesterday that the player recently received a plane ticket to travel to the European country, and he departed the island yesterday to take up the offer.

Marsh, a former Calabar High Manning Cup star, started playing senior football for Cavalier in 2009 and has become one of the club's most reliable, productive, and exciting players. He ended the 2015/2016 season as Cavalier top scorer with seven goals.
