Gooden among top swimmers at Walter Lowi meet

Smashing two meet records at last Saturday's Walter Lowi Swim Meet, Sean-Douglas Gooden inspired Tornadoes Swim Club to a combined total of 288 points and an exciting eight-points win over Y Speedos Swim Club at the National Aquatics Centre.

Gooden broke the 11 & Over Boys 200 metres breaststroke and 11 & Over 200m backstroke marks under humid conditions.

The Marlins Swim Club with 193; Swimaz Aquatic Swim Club, 56; and Blue Seals Swim Club, 52, rounded out the top five.

Twelve meet records fell, with youngsters earning eight and master swimmers copping the remaining four.

Youngsters who set two records included Emily MacDonald, who set two new marks in the 11 & Over girls 400m Individual medley and 11 & Over 200m butterfly; and Jordane Payne, who took the 11 & Over Boys 400m Individual medley and 11 & Over Boys 200m butterfly.

In the masters category, Hellen Powell-Walters took the Women 45-49 years 50m breaststroke; Elizabeth Butler broke the 60-62 years 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke record; while Rushay Wilson set a new Masters Men 25-29 years 50m Backstroke mark.
