Big money bids for Bailey
Belgium-based Jamaican winger, Leon Bailey, appears set for a big money move this month.
Craig Butler, who manages the red hot Genk forward Leon Bailey predicted yesterday that the 19-year-old will sign for a top European football club, before the January transfer window closes.
According to the player's agent/father, it is the right time for right for Leon and Kyle (Butler) to "move to the next level."
"He (Leon Bailey) will move, and so will Kyle (Butler) in this transfer window as it's time to move on to the next level," Butler told STAR Sports yesterday. Kyle now plays for Genk's youth team.
Top European clubs including English Premier League heavyweights, Liverpool and Chelsea, are reportedly interested in signing the player. Italian giants Roma and Germany's Bayer Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on the player according to reports out of Europe. London's Daily Mail reported last night that the two last named clubs are preparing 20 million pounds bids.
"Leon and Kyle have been doing well, and we will make a decision in this transfer window," Craig Butler said.
Bailey has been a hit for Genk in the Belgium's top flight. He scored eight goals and had 11 assists in 54 appearances last season in Genk's march to the Europa League.
Late last year Bailey was named on a 40-man short-list for UEFA's prestigious Golden Boy Award last season.
