Juve to rest Higuain for Turin derby

May 06, 2017

Treble-chasing Juventus could rest star striker Gonzalo Higuain for today's derby with city rivals Torino, switching to a 4-4-1-1.

The Bianconeri face the Granata in the Derby della Mole at the Juventus Stadium knowing that a win against their bitter rivals would bring them on the brink of securing a record sixth straight Scudetto.

Coach Max Allegri has already told reporters that Neto will replace Gianluigi Buffon in goal after the captain's impressive showing in the Champions League semi-final against Monaco on Wednesday.

Higuain scored both goals as Juventus won 2-0 on the road and the team will be eager to wrap up the league title ahead of Tuesday's Champions League second leg semifinal.

Mario Mandzukic is now expected to replace Higuain replacing him at the head of the Juve attack. That would mean a 4-4-1-1, with Juan Cuadrado and Stefano Sturaro on the flanks, and Paulo Dybala playing behind Mandzukic.
