Wadadah looks to reclaim former glory

Two-time national champions Wadadah FC, trounced win Reggae Youths FC 4-1 on Sunday to advance to their first final in the JFF Western Confederations/ Charley's JB Rum Super League in over four years.

Coach of Wadadah Daniel Ricketts attributed Sunday's win to preparation.

"In Trelawny, we weren't prepared. The guys weren't coming to training and we did not have a game plan. However, for the two weeks we were off the guys came out, we did some work and it paid off," he said.

"I'm happy because over the years we have been to the semi-finals about three to four years straight and is now a blessing for us to finally get over the hurdle," added Ricketts.

When asked about the possibility of getting back to the premier league, Ricketts, said he was not looking too far ahead. He said the team was focused on clearing Sunday's hurdle first.

Wadadah will face Faulkland FC in the final.

"As long as the guys turn out to training and we are prepared we will give it our best shot and see the outcome on Sunday," said Ricketts who is aware of Faulkland's prowess.

For Wadadah, Obrien Robinson's double strikes (11th and 86th), along with contributions from Deshawn Woolery (40th) and Tyshan Hill (59th) saw them comfortably dispatch Reggae Youths, for whom Cion Peterkin scored the consolation in the 62nd minute.

Faulkland, who topped the league table, got the better of Harmony FC 2-1 to advance 4-1 on aggregate to their first ever final.

Husana Johnson (27th minute) gave Faulkland the lead, before the competition's leading scorer Renaldo McLeish (12 goals) finished things off in the 80th..

Lacon Brissett scored Harmony's only goal over the two legs in the 70th minute from the penalty spot.

Coach of Faulkland Gregory Palmer, who described their historic journey as a hard-fought one, told STAR Sports he is happy to be in the final. However, the objective is not yet met.

"The objective remains the same which is to qualify for the premier league ... we have been working hard and that's why we are in the championship game," said Palmer.
