Talented midfielder Romario 'Rum Rum' Campbell is finally set to play for coach Donovan Duckie in the Red Stripe Premier League, after the pair missed the chance to work with each other three times in the past.

"Romario is now a Mount Pleasant (Football Academy) player. I have an interesting story. I remember him calling me in 2013, when I was at Waterhouse wanting to join the team. But he arrived when I departed Waterhouse. Then it happened again when I joined Humble Lion. Romario again called me but he arrived when I departed last year," Duckie told STAR Sports, while confirming the arrival of Campbell at Mount Pleasant.

"Last season when I rejoined Waterhouse in November. Again, he called me but this time his transfer from Humble Lion did not come through. Now, I am at Mount Pleasant, and Romario who was transferred here from, Humble Lion last week, is set to join the training today (yesterday)," he shared.

CREATIVE PLAYER

"I coached Romario at the national Under-17 and Under-20 levels, but this would be the first time at the club level. He is a creative player, but every coach has a different view. He is a player that can help Mount Pleasant to accomplish goals in the Premier League," noted Duckie, who is also in charge of the national Under-23 team.

Humble Lion's manager Sheldon Holness confirmed that Campbell transferred to the St Ann-based club.

"He was transferred to Mount Pleasant sometime last week," Holness said yesterday.

Campbell was suspended indefinitely by Waterhouse during the latter part of the 2016-17 season for disciplinary reasons. He had joined the Drewsland club from Harbour View in 2013.

During the best period of his career, Campbell became a favourite of then national senior team coach, Winfried Schaefer. However, the former Norman Manley High School star struggled with fitness and form and was dropped from the national set-up after eight appearances for the Reggae Boyz.

Campbell is the latest to transfer to the promoted club, as national central defender Ladale Richie and Roger Rodney (Montego Bay United), as well as Cardel Benbow and Kemar 'Bushy' Beckford from last season's beaten finalists Waterhouse have all moved to Mount Pleasant ahead of the 2018-2019 Red Stripe Premier League season.
