Think another man is eating my food
Dear Pastor,
This is the second time I am writing to you and I hope that you would answer my letter. I have a girlfriend, but I cannot trust her. She is working and I am working.
She gets paid every week and I give her money every week to go to the market. I don't watch her, but before the week is out, she tells me that there is nothing in the house to eat. We are running out of everything and I am hardly there to eat so much.
I have a light breakfast in the mornings and when I come home at nights, I have my dinner. Sometimes when I look in the refrigerator, everything is in there and by the Thursday, nothing is in there. She doesn't have children. So where could the food go?
Pastor, I believe that she is feeding another man with my labour. I just feel that way. I know things are expensive, but we can't eat all the food that we buy.
I was planning to marry this woman, but I can't marry a thief and a woman I can't trust. I don't know how you feel about what I have said, pastor. But give me your advice.
L.G.
Dear L.G.,
You say that this woman steals your money and she is not honest. I wonder whether she would consider taking your money as stealing.
Some people would say that you did not give her the money, so it is stealing. She may say that what you have is hers and if she takes it, it is not stealing.
I would say that you should confront her about how she feels about taking away your money, and tell her that whenever she is in need of something, she should ask you for it.
You have been concerned about the groceries that she buys. You do not believe that you eat so much food. Be a man. You are supposed to be in charge of your house.
I further suggest that you question her about these things. She ought not to believe that you are wrong to ask questions, so talk to her about these things.
But if in general you don't trust this woman, you should end this relationship. You ought not to get married to a woman you cannot trust.
Pastor
