Man fined for smuggling ganja

A man who admitted in court that he smuggled ganja was fined and confined when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Travis Stewart pleaded guilty to possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps to export ganja, and conspiracy.

Stewart was reportedly stopped and searched, while attempting to board a flight to The Bahamas.

He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he expelled 19 pellets of ganja, which weighed one pound four ounces.

The accused was subsequently fined $2,000 or six months for possession of ganja, $4,000 or six months for dealing in ganja, $8,000 and nine months for taking steps to export ganja, and nine months for conspiracy, which will run concurrently.
