Greek national arrested at airport
The Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is reporting that a Greek national and former general manager of an all-inclusive hotel in Trelawny was arrested by police at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Monday.
Reports are that about 7:40 p.m., the man, who is also the holder of a Jamaican and an American passport, arrived in the island and was nabbed by investigators from the Constabulary Financial Unit of C-TOC and the Financial Investigations Division.
His arrest emanated from an intense investigation into several fraudulent activities involving two major banking institutions.
He reportedly acquired several credit facilities from these institutions using different Taxpayer Registration Numbers and names. These activities go as far back as 2010.
He will be interviewed in the presence of his attorney following which the following charges will be proffered:
* Obtaining credit by false pretence
* Obtaining money by false pretence
* Breaches of the Revenue Administration Act
