Holiday hilarity returns on Boxing Day with the 12th staging of Ellis International's Christmas Comedy Cook-up at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel. Early birds tickets are going fast.

The FLOW-sponsored calendar event promises to unleash a deluge of laughter from eight top-flight comedians, two dynamic hosts, an electrifying steel orchestra and surprise appearances.

Humour will be front and centre but the annual showcase of laughter is not just about entertainment.

As in previous years, the event mixes comedy with charity, as part proceeds will go towards supporting the work of the Trench Town Reading Centre.

Additionally, the producers are partnering with the Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals, Kingston. The partnership's aim is to support fundraising efforts to assist the Norman Gardens Primary and Junior High. The partnership also aims to at increase the entitys' capacity to assist children with special needs.

The club was officially formed last June, with 23 Charter members, but was actually conceptualised in early 2013.

Its founding members have been involved in outreach projects over the lat two years with a focus on educational and beautification projets as well as initiatives geared towards at-risk youth.

Club president Sasha-Kay Gilzean said: "We are elated to partner with Ellis International to raise funds and awareness for charity in an innovative and creative way, while bringing cheer to patrons".

As usual, the comedy will have a distinct international flavour with performances by Nigerian female comic Yvonne Orji, Barbadian veteran Trevor Eastmond and Canada-based Ghanaian, star Trixx.

Local representation will come from Ity and Fancy Cat, Leighton Smith, Kathy Grant, Rozah Roze and Blakka Ellis. The acrobatic, back-flipping, steelpan playing Silver Birds Band will also perform.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and showtime is 7 p.m. Admission is $2,500 pre-sold and $3,000 at the door.
