Stevie Face upbeat about Beenie Man collab
Reggae lovers’ rock singer Stevie Face is pleased with the growing response to If I Follow My Heart, his collaboration with dancehall icon Beenie Man, which is featured on the album Eminence.
The singer says strong radio support in Jamaica is helping to build momentum, with the song also gaining attention in the wider Caribbean, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe.
“I am extremely pleased with the response. The radio DJs in Jamaica have really embraced the song and we’re getting positive feedback from listeners everywhere. We’re also seeing the momentum spreading outside of Jamaica, which is exactly what we want,” said Stevie Face. Produced by Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor, the recording brings together Stevie Face’s smooth lovers’ rock delivery and Beenie Man’s distinctive style.
Its inclusion on Eminence has given Stevie Face another opportunity to reach listeners beyond his established fan base.
“Beenie Man is an icon and one of the greatest artistes Jamaica has produced. I’m proud to have this collaboration featured on his album, but for me the work is just beginning. We want to take this song as far as it can possibly go,” he said. The artistes are preparing to shoot an official music video, which Stevie Face hopes will give the promotional campaign a further boost.
“The video is the next major step. We want to create something that complements the song and gives it another push internationally. The response so far has given us a lot of confidence, and we’re going to put the necessary work behind it,” he said.
The hit-making singer, known for his romantic style and soulful vocals, remains determined to build on the response.
“I still have the same hunger. When you have a good song and people are responding to it, you have to work it. Right now, we’re focused on building on the momentum and taking If I Follow My Heart worldwide,” said Stevie Face.
