Bob Marley earthday events all set
Under the theme, Soul Rebel, a call for everyone to come together and stand up against violence and divisiveness in society, the annual Bob Marley earthday celebrations will take place on Tuesday, February 6 at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston.
“My father envisioned us breaking down all barriers, setting aside our differences and living together in love and unity,” says Cedella Marley, CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies. “The theme Soul Rebel was selected because today more than ever, there is a need for us to raise our consciousness, to fearlessly rebel against the crime and violence that threaten to divide us."
The activities will commence at 7 a.m. with specially invited guests and will include the blowing of the Abeng, Nyabinghi drumming and the cutting of the birthday cake, accompanied by the traditional welcome from the Marley family and management of the Bob Marley Group.
This segment will also feature special performances from various schools within the Corporate Area.
At 10 a.m., the Bob Marley Museum will open to the general public for a full day of activities including a kiddies village.
The museum will also host three symposiums. A reggae jam session will commence at 3 p.m.
The session will bring a close to the day’s activities featuring Bob Marley’s 73rd ambassadors Blvk H3ro and all-girl band Adahzeh, plus other top reggae artistes and live-stream performances from Skip Marley, Stephen Marley and other special guests.
