For many people, the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championships is never complete without the after-parties, among them being Up To The Line and Velocity.

The former, Up To The Line, is now dubbed a stage show because of the large patronage it receives combined with the entertainment offering.

The flyer is decorated with dancehall artistes including Chi Ching Ching, Tommy Lee, Ishawna, Masicka, Alkaline and Mavado. These big acts, among many other up-and-coming entertainers, are named to perform at the Limelight Entertainment Complex venue tonight.

"It will be the seventeenth staging and we have all the hot artistes. We are expecting a larger crowd and hoping for even greater support for the young artistes," Up To The Line promoter, Ayoka Campbell, said.

The target audience is not only persons that are interested in the Champs celebrations but dancehall culture and as such the audience includes both young and old from across the island.

Campbell told The STAR, "We hardly have issues controlling the patrons and with the distribution of liquor to our patrons the team has ensured that the necessary arrangements have been put in place to differentiate between the ages and secure the venue."

Meanwhile, Velocity will be held at the KSAC Stadium Parking Lot.

"The parties have a reputation of their own, every year the numbers increase and that is one of the reasons for moving Velocity to the larger, closer venue," said Velocity promoter, Kashmani Lawrence.

"We may have an advantage over other after-champs events because Velocity is closer and is more of a party, not a stage show," Lawrence added.

Persons attending Up To The Line will be required to present IDs upon entry. Adults will be given different armbands.

Velocity, meanwhile, is a strictly non-alcoholic beverage event.

"It is an all-round celebration for the hard work athletes have put in. Everybody feels that team spirit for their schools and the energy is dependent on that," Lawrence said.

Energetic dancer/artiste Ding Dong is expected to perform at this year's the fifth anniversary staging of Velocity.
