Little did the male patrons know, but they were in for a treat at Reggae for Mothers held last Saturday.

The concert was hosted by reggae songstress Etana and friends in the music industry, including Chuck Fenda and I-Wayne at Beaux Escape Restaurant and Lounge in St Elizabeth.

Instead of the regular songs in celebration of mothers and women, the I'm Not Afraid singer chose to perform tracks like My Man and Blessings (which is originally a collaboration with Alborosie) that kept the attention of the male audience.

She proceeded to interact with the patrons dressed to the tee in buttoned-up shirts, who provided back-up vocals by singing Alborosie's verse. The females were fully entertained despite the focus being removed from them.

The other entertainers followed, by performing tracks that were aimed at stimulating thought, while thoroughly entertaining the audience.

I-Wayne and his supporting vocalist Jhan'll Eccles put on a show as they worked together on stage to deliver the reggae artiste's original singles, We Belong Together and Need Her In I Arms and had the females screaming for goose pimples as the lyrics of 'love stop making a fool of me' from the 1980s hit R&B single, Silly, by Deniece Williams belted through the lounge speakers - which was an unexpected selection from the Lava Ground reggae artiste.

The event which started three hours after the expected 9 p.m. show time, closed in the wee hours of 3 a.m.
