Krysiwebb to launch solo career

Reggae artiste Krystal Webb, also known as 'Krysiwebb', has made her name as a great live backing vocalist for reggae superstar Anthony B.

Last year, she accompanied him on her first European tour, covering major reggae festivals throughout Europe, including Reggae Jam (Germany) and Kwaku (Holland).

But this year, she is stepping from the shadows into the spotlight. She recently released a collaboration, Do It Again, with dancehall artiste Kool Johnny Kool on the Nijeri Records and she is currently working on her debut album.

"I believe it's my time now. I want to pursue my dream of being a solo artiste. I have to sacrifice my time, my ability to earn, to go for something greater. But I have a team, so I am looking forward to it," she said.

She is collaborating with Robert Sutherland, CEO of Nijeri Records, who will produce and release her debut album next year. There are plans to shoot a video for the single next month.

"The response to Do It Again has been great, people have been sharing it via SoundCloud and Facebook, and deejays have been requesting jingles ... it is getting international radio play," she said.

Krysiwebb will be going on the road in Africa and Europe, her first tour as a solo artiste. The tour is being organised by Europe-based Werdsound Entertainment.

"I am genuinely excited to do my own thing," she said.
