Is Joe Shauna Chyn's new guy?
Over the past few weeks, dancehall artiste Shauna Chyn and Downsound Records boss Joe Bogdanovich have been making several public appearances together.
Based on the frequency of these appearances, rumours have begun circulating that the two are an item and that Chyn is poised to take up the reigns as the 'First Lady of Downsound Entertainment'.
In an interview with THE WEEKEND STAR, the artiste, who calls herself 'boss chick' said she has known Bogdanovich for years and said her relationship with members of the Downsound team dates all the way back to 2004.
"I've been at Downsound for ages now. It's been 14 years. I used to promote for Nanko, Fantan Mojah, Anthony B, Jah Cure, and everybody else that used to be affiliated with Downsound from dem time deh," she said. "I used to just go and come back and me just humble and do me thing. Is not like me did a leech pan nobody. Me always a link wid dem but me always a look me own food too."
She said while she has always had the desire to be an artiste, the latter was never something she used to highlight until recently.
She said since she has started making moves in her career, she has seen significant improvements in her craft and says the impact she has been making in music locally has caused many to start paying more attention to her, including Bogdanovich.
"Joe hear me a sing and say him can't believe me can actually sing. But a just chu me never loud wid it and dem ting deh," she said. "He never knew I had the capability to do all these things, but now him recognise me talent and says he's proud of the growth."
As far as a budding relationship is concerned, Chyn did not confirm or deny. She simply said "No comment" to questions regarding the relationship status.
She also did not address rumours that she is signed to Downsound Records and is poised to take over as the label's leading female.
She said she has her own label Bosschick Entertainment and is focusing on building a brand she hopes will one day become a platform other artistes can launch their careers from.
