Bully Beef looks to floor Mackerel and Candy
F irst there was Mackerel, then there was Candy Baddy. Now a bartender who goes by the name Bully Beef is seeking to be the next 'flavour of the month'.
The 249-pounder, who was once a boxer, aims to deliver a knockout punch to the careers of Mackerel and Candy.
This bubbler is determined that she will be crowned Jamaica's next internet sensation.
Bully Beef, whose given name is Suzette Downer, has been posting a series of videos on social media in which she showcases her dancing skills.
"Mi did always a dance, always a do something, always a do videos, then me see the Mackerel thing, then Candy, so mi seh mi always doing stuff like them, so why don't I name myself and start sumn too?" Bully Beef, 26, told THE STAR.
The mother of two said she is prepared to invest the necessary time and effort into being an internet sensation.
In addition, she is also mindful of the fact that it may only be 'five seconds of fame', however, she is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve and maintain her spot in the minds of social media users.
With her own newly formed slang, 'clean', she has been able to snag the attention of many Jamaicans, and has also created a fanbase in her community in Spanish Town.
"You have Candy fans, you have Mackerel fans, and me a go have my own fans. The people in my community already supporting me and thing," she said. "I'm gonna come up with a lot of different dances, wul eep a things mi plan fi do."
And she is not worried about the naysayers who may attempt to shame her because of her size.
"I don't care about what people will say. Sometimes I don't even remember that I have on the weight because I don't put it in front of me," Bully Beef said.
Artiste Ganggoolie, who seemingly loves to be associated with food-named sensations, in June, released a song about Bully Beef and Mackerel. However, the song did not gain as much traction as expected.
It wasn't until Sunday, when Bully Beef posted a video on Instagram calling out Candy for labelling Gamgoolie's Muscle Wine as 'wow wine' that many Jamaicans became aware of her.
Deeming herself the original ' Muscle Wine queen', Bully Beef says she has been using the song and corresponding dance to 'hold her man' since its release.
And although Candy has not yet responded to the video, Bully Beef maintains that if and when she does, she will be ready for the battle.
"Candy is very ungrateful and she is using Muscle Wine for her own slang and call it 'Wow Wine'. She come with wow and everybody a run wid it, but this is Muscle Wine, she supposed to build a dance fi her slang," Bully Beef said.
