Love birds Queenie Lady Gangsta and Dwayne 'Dowey' Scarlett are celebrating their one-year anniversary and six months of marriage.

The pair turned heads last September because of their 20-year age difference and remain a favourite on social media. Queenie, who thought their spark wouldn't go beyond a one-night fling, is happy with their steady growth.

"I am impressed and I give God thanks because the fact that we last a year, that's a blessing," she told THE STAR, recalling that she first went to see him as just a fan.

"Things get official and serious till we married, so everything is a blessing and take time coming into play bit by bit so I'm honoured. I'm proud of myself and I'm proud of Mr Scarlett."

To mark the special occasion, the couple has been travelling the island and making memories. They were exploring Westmoreland when contacted by THE STAR.

"We are just making the best of each other because the fact that I don't live here and I'm here, we just embrace each other with anything natural, not anything officially planned. So we're just touring the island, going to different parishes, greeting people and it's just a fun thing," she said.

The Scarletts tied the knot on Dowey's 31st birthday this March, following their engagement last November. With Queenie going back and forth from Jamaica to her UK residence, she said it is important that they communicate, love, respect and understand each other in order for the relationship to work.

"We're also married so for better or for worse, sick or in health, richer or poorer, good or bad. We have to embrace that as a married couple and know that life comes with ups and downs. It's hard but we cope," she said.

The couple is also focused on getting their business ventures up and running. Their June Plum record label is one such enterprise which will help to promote their music as well as help the careers of other artistes.

"Unity is strength so the two of us unite together and he has music potential as well so we just joined by the grace of God," she said. "I went away for three months so the music business was on hold as my daughter is sick and I was just on a family thing. So now I'm back and I'm putting things into perspective and, hopefully, releasing a next single called Nah Back next week."

They also have a June Plum skincare line which they intend to promote soon.
